Emerald Sea Scuba
The
best dive boat in the Pacific Northwest has been
SOLD. Named the
"Dive Bum", the 26 foot North River Seahawk O/S (Offshore) is powered by
twin 150
HP Yamahas with only 200 hours. The motors have always been
professionally maintained by Puget Marina. The 8 1/2 foot beam is super stable, and provides lots of
deck space and load capacity for lots of dive gear!
The boat handles extremely rough water
with ease, has a self bailing deck with custom benches for
your dive gear, along with a sturdy dive ladder custom built
by Zeigler Welding. The cabin is extremely
comfortable, with seating for five divers, a V-berth with
lots of dry storage, a Wallas Diesel furnace to keep you
toasty warm and a standup head for the Admiral.
Outfitted
with modern electronics, the new
Side-Scan sonar on the Lowrance HDS-10 makes
finding wrecks a breeze. The
Standard Horizon Matrix 2100 radio passes and displays AIS
positions to the HDS-10 chart plotter, which makes keeping
track of the Ferries and commercial traffic much less
stressful in the fog.
The Dive Bum has been extremely successful at finding and diving wrecks in and around Puget Sound. In the past few years she has located hundreds of new wrecks. If you're an avid wreck diver, this is the perfect boat for you.
The boat excels at winter Winter diving and is is truly in a class all by itself as far as fit, finish and functionality. The big outboards have plenty of "get up and go" and they run nicely at an economical 4000 RPM, which pushes the boat at an easy 30 knots, getting about 2.5 miles per gallon, even fully loaded and weighing nearly 8000 lbs.
We dive locally year round and usually make several trips every summer up to Neah Bay, the San Juan Islands and out to visit the wrecks in the Straits of Juan de Fuca. Having the boat on a trailer means that we can launch at any decent boat ramp, allowing us to visit more than 200 different wreck dives in the past four years.
