Boydski gets Fancy!

With 3 pieces of furniture (and a remodel) under my belt, I was ready (or so I thought) to tackle something truly challenging.  We'd been searching for quite a while to find just the right counter stools for the new kitchen, and couldn't find something we liked.   My better half found some neat Stickley-Mission style stools in one of her many magazines, and showed me a picture.

I'd never tried "through-mortises" before.  They were a bit of a challenge.  You've got to have everything precise and tight, because it all shows!

I also discovered that I'd designed a chair with 54 Mortise and tenon joints, some of which were angled (just to complicate it even further).

The chair (I only have one done so far) turned out beautifully, and I have to admit I'm proud of it.  Especially considering it's really only my 4th "woodworking" project.

Heck, it's even comfortable, who'd have guessed!

Now that the chair turned out so well, its much easier to convince my better half that I need to buy some more/better tools!  I even managed to break the mortising attachment for my Drill Press while I was making this.  Aw shucks, I guess I need a new one!  ;-)
