Galapagos Sea Lions

North Seymour Island, June 29th, 2004

The Galapagos Sea Lion (Zalophus californius wollebacki) is definitely the most entertaining marine critter in the Archipelago.  It is a subspecies of the California Sea Lion found along the west coast of the United States.  They can be approached very closely on land, and in the water, delight in performing aquabatic stunts for divers and snorkelers alike.
